Clients state that advice given by Hay & Kilner ‘has always been second to none‘; ‘the partners have in-depth knowledge and are supported by an excellent team‘. The practice continues to receive instructions on significant sales and purchases from clients in the care sector. Paul Taylor leads the team and is recommended along with ‘leading property lawyer‘ Nicola Tiffen.

Chambers Guide 2009:
Clients repeatedly return to this group for "its thorough, detailed and personable approach." The real estate team dominates the market for representing care home operators on complex sales and purchases, and recently handled the disposal of two major private nursing homes. The "efficient and diligent"  Nicola Tiffen advises developers, builders and other commercial clients on investment acquisitions.

Chambers Guide 2008:
"A fixture of the North East legal market, Hay & Kilner is 'skilled in protecting clients' interests and providing useful and proactive advice'. During the past year it received substantial new instructions from house builders and development clients to handle site acquisitions and plot disposals. The group has cornered the market acting for pension fund companies and clients in the care home sector. It recently advised Eton Square Healthcare on its £60 million acquisition of a nursing home group. The transaction included the acquisition of seven existing properties and five under development on a forward sale agreement, and then a sale and leaseback of the portfolio. Regarded by clients as 'a reliable and knowledgeable lawyer,' Nicola Tiffen practises a variety of real estate work. She spearheaded the Eton Square Healthcare deal.

The Legal 500 Guide 2007:
"Hay & Kilner has been involved in a number of acquisitions for a range of clients, including multimillion-pound property investments. These incorporate prime location retail acquisitions, auction acquisitions, and conditional purchases. Paul Taylor, who provides a ‘ten out of ten' service, heads the team."
