Prescription error
Prescription errors arise in the following circumstances: prescribing a patient with incorrect medication; prescribing an inaccurate dosage; mislabelling medication; incorrect filing of a prescription order; and illegible handwriting causing mis-communication between dosage and medication. In some situations the error can cause the patient to suffer short-term damage. However, prescription errors can sometimes cause long-term serious harm to the patient or even death.
Here are some examples of our settled prescription error claims:
Hay & Kilner has successfully settled a claim for £4,800, following a drug dispensing error. Our client was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with a chest infection. On discharge he was dispensed Metolozone as opposed to Metoclopramide. As a consequence, he suffered a one week period of severe dehydration, vomiting and general deterioration in health.
A claim was settled for £3,000 following a prescription error at a Dermatology clinic. Our client, who was planning to start a family, was prescribed medication with an effect which would make it dangerous to conceive within a two year period.
