Neil Dwyer, Sarah Hall and Sarah Furness are our employment law specialists at Hay & Kilner. We act predominantly for employers and our client’s range from local SME’s to national PLC’s.

Our team’s ethos is very much that “prevention is better than a cure”. As a result, we often advise our clients on their HR strategy and become involved at the outset with any HR issues they may have. Clients appreciate our “hands on” common sense approach, quick response times and the day-to-day support they can lean on in respect of matters such as disciplinary and grievance issues, reorganisations and TUPE transfers.

Our free bi-annual seminars and regular email bulletins also ensure that our clients are kept up to date with any changes to employment law.

HR key
The team’s “prevention is better than a cure” approach is backed up by its HR key service. This optional service is offered to clients at a fixed cost and provides, amongst other things, unlimited access to a telephone help line and insurance protection against tribunal claims. The team spends 100 % of its time advising on all aspects of employment law:

  • We have vast experience of defending Tribunal claims on behalf of employers. We pro-actively manage claims and this often leads to claims either being withdrawn or settling on a commercial basis to our clients’ advantage.  All members of the team carry out their own advocacy at Employment Tribunals across the UK.
  • We are experienced in obtaining injunctions for employers particularly where an employer’s confidential information is being misused.
  • We offer a production and renewal service of all employment documentation.  This includes terms and conditions of employment and staff handbooks.
  • We work alongside our commercial team and regularly advise on the employment law aspects of business acquisitions and disposals.
  • We provide guidance to companies and/or outgoing directors in the negotiation and settlement of director’s compensation packages and restrictions on their future trading activities.
