Our Alison Hall, Partner and Head of Private Client, has taken over as the figurehead of the city’s legal profession.
Alison has become president of the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society and will serve a 12-month period in the role, representing the region’s legal community at both a regional and a national level.
Originally from Yorkshire, Alison moved to the North East to study at Northumbria University. She has worked in the region ever since completing her legal qualifications and has served on the committee of the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society for the last five years.
The Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society is one of the largest in the UK, and is also one of the founding members of the newly-formed County Societies Group, which also includes Kent, Devon & Somerset, Leicestershire, Cheshire & North Wales and Surrey Law Societies, and together represents over 5,000 solicitors.
Alison said: “The Newcastle Law Society brings together a wide range of different parts of the North East legal community, and my aim for the next year is to further strengthen relationships across all the various practice areas to everyone’s benefit, most especially within the commercial law sector.
“The region has an extremely strong legal sector which makes a huge contribution to the North East economy, both through each individual practice’s commercial success and everything that they enable companies of all sizes across the region to plan for, implement and deliver.
“It’s a privilege to take on this new role and I’m looking forward to the many opportunities it will provide to showcase the excellence of the North East’s legal practitioners.”
