Isolation notes are to be launched which will provide employees with evidence for their employers that they have been advised to self-isolate due to the coronavirus, either because they have symptoms or they live with someone who has symptoms.
For the first seven days of absence, employees can self-certify. After that, employers can ask for medical evidence. Where this is related to having symptoms of coronavirus or living with someone who has symptoms, the isolation notes can be used as that medical evidence.
The notes are to be accessed via the NHS website and NHS 111 online and will be emailed to individuals, a trusted family member or friend of that individual or directly to the employer. The service can also be used to generate an isolation note on behalf of someone else.
We can of course provide guidance on all of the above issues. Please don’t hesitate to contact the Employment Team or call 0191 232 8345
