Old Macdonald had a farm… Or did he? Dealing with the death of a farmer

  • Date:18/5/2022
  • Time:16:00
  • Venue:Kingston Park Stadium

We are delighted to invite you to our rural seminar, taking place in-person for the first time in 2 years, on Wednesday 18th May, 4.00pm at Kingston Park Stadium.

Our topic for this session is:
Old Macdonald had a farm… Or did he? Dealing with the death of a farmer.

We will explore the issues for those farming in Partnership when a Partner dies focusing on:

  • unregistered land
  • disagreements over boundaries and access
  • lending secured over the land
  • land being sold to a developer

All of these issues will bring in to question not only the practicalities of what the deceased owned and how it can be dealt with on death, but also how it will be viewed and assessed by HMRC when claims for relief from Inheritance Tax are made.

In addition, we will also explore the information HMRC expects to receive when considering claims for Agricultural Property Relief (particularly where there is development land and Agricultural Tenancies), and how dealing with the assets of the estate following the death of the farmer can impact on this.

If you would like to attend, please register here.

If you have any questions, please email kadie.oneill@hay-kilner.co.uk.

We look forward to seeing you there!
