The concept of a modern family is a moving feast, from divorce and remarriage becoming almost a third certainty in life (along with death and taxes), to an ageing population with varied care needs, issues around mental capacity and more valuable estates.
Our virtual Spring seminar will focus on what a ‘modern family’ may now look like, and the issues that can arise both in life and on death for those in (and those outside of) the family. Our case study will explore the multi-generational issues within such a family, discussing matters of mental capacity and marriage, surrogacy, extramarital children, ageing without children, providing for disabled children and balancing the needs of children/step-children and spouse/civil partner following divorce and remarriage.
