Investing in our corporate and commercial team has helped us break into the list of the region’s top ten legal advisers for merger and acquisition work.
We were ranked eighth in the latest Experian review of the region’s corporate market following a busy year.
Recent projects on which we had advised include the management buy-out at North East construction firm P F Burridge & Sons, the sale of property business Van Mildert, the acquisition by family-owned motor franchise Wingrove Motor Company of the Peugeot dealership on Benton Road in Newcastle, and the management buy-out and acquisition of Indigo Software (Holdings) Ltd.
Our corporate and commercial team has previously been highlighted in the independent industry bible The Legal 500 as delivering ‘first-rate advice that is thorough and comprehensive,’ while it also recently added solicitor Ben Jackson to the team to help meet growing demand for its services.
Jonathan Waters, Managing Partner at Hay & Kilner said: “Mergers and acquisitions of all sizes and values have long been a significant part of the firm’s work, but we’ve seen demand grow for our corporate and commercial law services, especially for higher value and more complex projects, and have been investing in the team to ensure we have the resources required to meet it.
“Breaking into the Experian top ten advisers list shows the progress we’re making, but we feel we still have a lot of potential to realise in this area and will be looking to use this ranking as the foundation for further development.
“The corporate and commercial team works with North East business owners and entrepreneurs on a wide range of different projects, from business and share acquisitions and disposals, through to corporate refinancing, MBOs and employee share option schemes, and has the skills and expertise needed to help our clients meet their personal and commercial objectives.”
