Leading Law Firm, Hay & Kilner has assisted Robson Laidler Accountants on the acquisition of Straughans Chartered Accountants for an undisclosed sum.
As the biggest acquisition in the firm’s history, this move gives Robson Laidler a group turnover of around £4m and brings its total headcount in Newcastle and Durham to around 80 staff.
Robson Laidler’s Managing Director, Graham Purvis commented on the deal:
“We have made a few acquisitions over the years, but nothing as significant or substantial as this. This acquisition forms an important part of our overall growth and investment strategy in the business. Straughans are a fantastic fit for us in terms of values and location, so we are thrilled they have chosen to join us.
We worked closely on this deal with Mark Adams from the corporate team at Hay & Kilner, and we would like to thank him and the rest of the team for their excellent service and professional approach.”
Mark Adams, Corporate Partner at Hay & Kilner commented:
“We were delighted to work with the management team at Robson Laidler on this strategic deal. We wish them every success with their future plans.”
Straughans will continue to trade under its own name, and will operate from its Hadrian House premises in Chester-Le-Street with its existing 20-strong workforce.
Having started out in 1946, Hay & Kilner is now one of the region’s leading law firms, offering a full range of legal services to businesses and individuals.
