Newcastle’s Independent Library, the Literary and Philosophical Society, is holding a fundraising event at The Stand on Newcastle’s High Bridge on Monday 13th August.
The Lit & Phil launched their Development Appeal in February 2011 and have so far raised over £100,000 but much more is needed to implement the plans for future survival.
Fundraiser Alma Devine has organised a variety of events to raise awareness of the Lit & Phil and funds for the ongoing appeal. She commented: ‘The Lit & Phil has always had a thriving events programme, I’m now trying to think of events that will generate a higher income and attract new people. The Comedy event at the Stand is a perfect external event as it’s quite a departure from our usual programme and so we should be reaching new audiences. We’re delighted that our solicitors Hay & Kilner are supporting the event and hope that many people will have a great night, whilst supporting the Lit & Phil’
Gail Peters, Head of Marketing at Hay & Kilner, said ‘We’re thrilled to be involved with the Lit & Phil’s Comedy Night. The Lit & Phil is such an important part of Newcastle and we look forward to a great night and a secure future for them.’
The Comedy Night is hosted by local comedian Matt Reed and contributors include Kate Fox, Anvil Springstien, Andy Fury and George Zach.
The Lit & Phil Comedy Night is being held at The Stand, High Bridge, Newcastle. Tickets are £8. Please call 0191 232 0192 to book tickets.
