Kerry is a Senior Associate who joined the firm as a trainee in August 2002, she qualified in 2004 and has been an integral part of our family team at our Wallsend office ever since.
With 17 years’ experience Kerry has a varied caseload dealing primarily with public law cases where she acts for parents and other family members when Social Services are involved. She is a member of Resolution, an association of specialist family lawyers who adopt a firm yet conciliatory approach to family cases. Kerry has also been a member of the Law Society Children Panel since 2013 and is regularly instructed to act for children and to represent the Children’s Guardian appointed by Cafcass. There have been many cases where Kerry has been the lead solicitor in collating expert evidence to ensure cases are ready for a determination to be made by the Court.
Some of the cases Kerry deals with in both private family disputes and public family cases have involved an international element, risk of forced marriage, risk of Female Genital Mutilation, allegations of sexual abuse, non-accidental injury, chronic neglect and domestic violence.
Kerry also deals with other private law family matters including divorce, separation, finance and non-molestation applications.
Some of Kerry’s clients have severe mental health issues and substance misuse issues to contend with. Kerry and her team work very closely with many charities and will refer clients to a variety of different organisations in the hope clients are able to improve their lives and improve their family situation.
Kerry is recognised in the Legal 500 and the Family Team were also shortlisted as Team of the Year finalists at the 2019 Northern Law Awards.
