Lauren has successfully recovered substantial damages for clients in respect of clinical and dental negligence.
Lauren became a partner in the firm in 2022 having trained and qualified at Hay & Kilner. She has over 13 years’ experience in handling a broad variety of clinical negligence claims and has a particular interest in gastro-intestinal, orthopaedic and accident and emergency cases. She also has extensive experience in dental negligence cases.
Lauren is known for her expertise in fatal claims and regularly attends and advocates at Inquest including liaising with the press.
Lauren has been recognized in Chambers and Partners 2024 as “Up and Coming” and described as “very bright and thorough” and “she has medical knowledge and a tactical way in which she deals with litigation”. In Legal 500 2022 she was described as “very detailed and thorough in her approach”.
Lauren is Vice Chair and Treasurer of the Women Lawyers Division North East and also sits on the firm’s Employee Wellbeing Committee. She is a trained Mental Health First Aider and Mental Health Advocate.

Recent cases:
Instructed on a fatal matter where X received negligent post-operative care. X was prescribed Ciprofloxacin antibiotics post-operatively for an infection with known resistance to Ciprofloxacin. This resulted in cardiac arrest and death. Lauren represented the family during the Inquest and went on to reach a five-figure settlement for X’s Estate.
Instructed on a fatal matter where it was alleged there was a misdiagnosis of a brain tumour resulting in the patient’s death. Whilst breach of duty was admitted by the Defendant, causation of injury was denied. With the support of expert evidence in the fields of Neurological Surgery and Paediatric Neuro-Oncology, Lauren was able to reach a financial settlement on behalf of the patient’s Estate.
Instructed on a matter where X developed metastatic renal carcinoma following a hospital’s failure to diagnosis a renal tumour. It was alleged there was a failure to report the renal tumour on a CT scan performed at hospital. Had the scan been correctly reported, X would have undergone surgery and would have been cured. Expert evidence was obtained in the field of oncology, renal surgery and care/OT. Admissions were made in respect of liability and Lauren achieved a six-figure settlement of damages for her client.
Instructed on a fatal matter on behalf of X’s Estate. X was diagnosed with rectal polyps and ought to have received regular radiological follow up. This did not take place. X developed rectal cancer which spread to her liver and lung. X passed away and a claim was pursued on behalf of X’s Estate. Expert evidence was obtained in the fields of general and colorectal surgery. Following a Letter of Claim, the Defendant made admissions in respect of liability. Lauren went on to achieve six-figure settlement of damages for X’s Estate and the family received a Letter of Apology from the Defendant Trust.
Instructed on a matter involving the negligent management of labour where X’s child passed away at 25 days old. It was alleged that signs of foetal distress were missed, and foetal heart rate was not appropriately recorded and monitored. It was X’s case that had competent monitoring taken place, their child would have been delivered earlier and would have survived. Whilst liability was denied, Lauren obtained supportive expert evidence and was able to achieve a settlement of damages for her client.
Instructed on a matter involving a delay in receiving treatment for acute osteomyelitis. It is alleged that as a result of numerous breaches of duty X, a minor, has required multiple surgical procedures, prolonged hospital admissions, and has suffered unnecessary pain and suffering and significant scarring. The claim is valued in excess of six figures.
