Hay & Kilner is committed to eliminating unlawful discrimination and to promoting equality and diversity in our policies, practices and procedures. We are also committed to promoting equality and diversity in the firm. This applies to our professional dealings with clients, staff and partners, other solicitors, barristers and third parties.

Hay & Kilner recognises that all of us have different characteristics which make us unique and that organisations benefit from taking these into account when offering services or employing people. Our equality and diversity policy applies to recruitment and selection, terms and conditions of employment, promotion, training, transfers and our approach to every other aspect of employment.

Hay & Kilner aims to ensure that individuals are selected, promoted and treated on the basis of their individual abilities and merits and the needs of the firm. Hay & Kilner monitors equality and diversity and a summary of the findings is presented each year.

Equality and Diversity Policy
Hay & Kilner is committed to meeting the different needs of all clients and contacts and has developed high levels of service which we consistently deliver.

We treat everyone we meet with courtesy, politeness and consideration.

Our services and premises are accessible to people with disabilities. We will make any reasonable adjustments if you have a special need. Please let us know. For those with mobility difficulties, car parking arrangements will be notified in advance. Where appropriate and reasonable, home visits can be offered if you are unable to access the office.

Clients will be asked for their preferred method of communication. If you have visual impairments you can choose how you would prefer to be contacted, for example by e-mail with electronic attachments. Clients with a hearing or speech impairment may prefer to receive communications by e-mail rather than by telephone.

If you are required to attend a court or tribunal, we will plan ahead to ensure that the premises are accessible, adequate communication facilities are available and that papers are provided in suitable formats. We will inform relevant third parties if you require correspondence in an alternative format.

Where appropriate and reasonable, we can provide translators for clients who are unable to communicate effectively in English or a British Sign Language Interpreter for those clients with profound hearing loss.
