Bethany initially read English Literature at Newcastle University, for which she received a First. Following graduation she carried out a placement in Senegal which involved working alongside the local prison and experiencing a foreign justice system. This experience, together with a desire to utilise the skills acquired during her undergraduate degree, led her to study the GDL at Northumbria University. Bethany graduated with a Distinction soon after undertaking the vacation scheme with Hay & Kilner.
Bethany wanted to build a career based in the North East and was impressed by Hay & Kilner’s reputation as regional leader. Prior to starting her training contract, Bethany was able to join the Residential Property Department as a paralegal. Her first seat as a trainee solicitor was in the Clinical Negligence department, and she is now taking up her second seat in the Commercial Property team.
Outside of work Bethany enjoys going to the theatre, trips to the beach and pottering around the allotment she shares with her parents.
