Jan deals with a wide range of matters in the built environment including projects and disputes in the North East, across the UK and Ireland but also as far afield as Norway, Kazakhstan, the European Union, Canada and the United States of America.
Jan’s experience includes acting in relation to wind farms, waste to power operations, solar thermal installations, mechanical and electrical works, flood protection schemes and drainage, care homes, supermarket developments, international hotel chains, railway infrastructure, and oil and gas projects.
He advises upon the drafting and negotiation of construction and engineering contracts, development agreements, collateral warranties, professional appointments, novation agreements and other contractual documentation.
When a dispute arises on a project, Jan can advise in matters of all values from small claims to the Technology and Construction Court, adjudication, arbitration, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Having completed a Masters in Law on the European regulations applying to energy efficiency technology in 2008, Jan has a long-standing interest in the law surrounding sustainability and efficiency to include renewables and other green technology.
